“RIBA Award winnning refurbishment”
Peter Jones is the flagship store of the John Lewis Partnership, located at Sloane Square, West London. The refurbished building retains the spirit of the original building and preserves the integrity of the Grade II* listed features. Over a five year, four phase period, B+R Architects, together with the project team, successfully delivered a highly complex scheme, on time and on budget, whilst the store continued to trade.
In 2004 Peter Jones was awarded the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Environmental Development Award and in 2005 it received the Royal Institute and British Architects (RIBA) Design Award.
B+R Architects led the team of over 50 individuals across four disciplines from technical design stage, through construction and handover from a site office environment on top of the existing store. The award winning refurbishment is testament to how a well-structured, collaborative contractor led design team can deliver concept designer’s projects successfully on time and below budget while maintaining the original vision. The skills developed on this scheme have informed all of our subsequent executive delivery projects.
